BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. The volume of German investments in Kazakhstan’s economy is recovering after a decline during the COVID-19 pandemic, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar said, Trend reports via the Kazakh media.

Sklyar made the remark at the Kazakh-German business forum in Nur-Sultan on May 12.

“This year, we are seeing a recovery in the volume after a 20 percent drop in 2020. Nearly 1,000 enterprises with the participation of German capital are operating in Kazakhstan,” he noted.

According to the official, the German companies operating in the country include such giants as Siemens, Bass, Metro and others.

“Joint ventures, working on the basis of equality and mutual benefit principles, help to increase trade between countries, expand the representation of German products in the country and create new jobs,” Sklyar added.

He also noted the special role of a number of organizations in the development of bilateral cooperation.

“A special role in the development of our cooperation is played by the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Foreign Trade Chamber, which unite not only the businesses of our countries, but can also become generators of ideas for expanding economic partnership,” the official stressed.

According to him, online meetings with German businesses have become traditional during the pandemic, and in total 19 such online meetings were held in various areas, such as engineering, logistics, transport, agriculture, healthcare, mining and metallurgical complex, banks, export financing and many others.
