BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 26. Kazakhstan annually consumes roughly six million tons of wheat, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karashukeev said at a Central Communications Service (CCS) briefing on July 26, Trend reports via the Kazakh media.

“Out of the 12-12.5 million tons of average annual wheat produced, six million is consumed by the domestic market. The rest in the form of grain and flour is always being exported. Therefore, an average annual level is expected in this marketing year as well, which will start and capture 2023,” Karashukeev stated.

Kazakhstan's wheat harvest for 2022 is projected to be 13-13.5 million tons.

“Considering the timely conduct of spring field work, provision of agricultural producers with everything necessary, this year's forecast for wheat constitutes 13-13.5 million tons,” Karashukeev noted.

This year's harvest is expected to exceed last year's level, he said.

“The expected harvest is to be at the level of average annual values ​​over the past five years, up by about 20 percent compared to 2021,” the minister added.
