BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. Member of the Board of Directors, CEO of Kazakhstan’s "Samruk-Kazyna" JSC (National Welfare Fund) Almassadam Satkaliyev announced the approximate time frame for making a decision on the format for the construction of nuclear power plants (NPPs) in the country, Trend reports on October 15 via the Kazakh media.

“The peculiarity of NPP construction is that we first must determine the pool of builders, make a mandatory requirement for local content, and after that they will start designing the plants. We expect the final selection to take place within a few months,” Satkaliyev said.

“Already in 2023, a final decision will be made on the format, construction, location, capacity of a single unit and financing conditions. Design, site preparation, engineering and survey work will begin. Construction will begin after the completion of design work,” the CEO said.

Earlier, Satkaliyev spoke about the technologies which are being considered for the construction of nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan.
