BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 24. A combined heat and power (CHP) plant located in Kazakhstan’s Ridder was sold to a private investor, the Municipal Head Danial Akhmadov said, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

Akhmadov added that the new owner of the CHP plant is from Kazakhstan and the investor intends to allocate around 7 billion Kazakh tenge ($15.16 million) for the modernization of the plant.

The head of the municipality noted that he is unable to provide any additional data on the terms of the deal.

Currently, the degree of wear and tear of the plant amounts to 74.5 percent. Previously, the repair work was planned to be carried out in May 2023.

Several days ago, a fire broke out at the Ridder CHP, which led to a temperature drop in the energy network. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the former owners of the enterprise.
