ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 6. Loading on the Kazakhstan Railways network (KTZ, national company) amounted to 23 million tons in October 2023, which is 6 percent higher than the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to KTZ data, 9.7 million tons of coal were loaded, representing a 5% increase. 6.8 million tons, a 4 percent increase, were produced within the country. Solid fuel exports totaled 2.8 million tons. This figure has increased by 8 percent.
Over 900,000 tons of grain were loaded from the fresh harvest. More than 670,000 tons were destined for export. Grinding product transportation increased by 8 percent to 338,000 tons. By 70 percent, up to 112,000 tons, in the republic.
Last month, the growth in shipments of ferrous metals by rail continued by 4 percent (up to 385,000 tons), iron ore by 30 percent (up to 2 million tons), non-ferrous ore by 9 percent (up to 2 million tons), and construction product cargo by 25 percent (up to 1.7 million tons).
Kazakhstan Railways is implementing a number of projects to expand transit and the transportation of goods.
In particular, last year, the construction of second tracks began on the Dostyk-Moyynty railway section. Due to this, the throughput of the section will increase up to five times, as will the volume of transit traffic between China and Europe.

It is also planned to build a new Darbazam-Maktaaral railway line between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Thanks to this, it is possible to relieve congestion at the Saryagash station, connect the Maktaaral region with the main railway network, and also expand transit potential and access to Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.
To relieve congestion at the Dostyk and Altynkol border railway stations, as well as to increase capacity between China and Kazakhstan, it is planned to build the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway line.
