ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 12. Over 124.1 million passengers were transported across all modes of transport in Kazakhstan in January 2024, Trend reports.
The country's Bureau of National Statistics' data shows that this is 7.2 percent more than the level of January 2023.
At the same time, passenger turnover for the above period amounted to 6.2 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 9.3 percent more than in January 2023.
In addition, passenger turnover increased in the following cities: Almaty (27.2 percent), Astana (14.6 percent), Shymkent (6.5 percent), Almaty (40.5 percent), Ulytau (26.9 percent), Zhambyl (19.8 percent), Kostanay (13.8 percent), Turkestan (11.2 percent), Kyzylorda (8.8 percent), North Kazakhstan (2.7 percent), Akmola (0.8 percent), and East Kazakhstan (0.2 percent).
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan has formed a pool of investment projects worth more than $31 billion in the fields of railway and maritime transport, aviation, and roads.
Furthermore, it will take at least 40 billion euros over the next five years to undertake key transportation infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan now has 13 international transport corridors in operation, including five railways and eight roads.
Furthermore, over the last decade, Kazakhstan's transportation and logistics infrastructure has received approximately $30 billion in investments.
