Kyrgyzstan shares plans on purchase of new special machinery in 2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. Kyrgyzstan is planning to purchase 669 units of various special vehicles and machinery, related to road construction, road maintenance, various repairs and cleaning in 2023, Daiyrbek Orunbekov, Head of the Information Policy Service of the Presidential Administration wrote on Facebook, Trend reports.

Orunbekov noted that 265 units of machinery, for which 686 million soms ($7.8 million) from the country budget was allocated, is planned to be delivered in Kyrgyzstan in May.

“During the years of independence of Kyrgyzstan, there were few cases when the purchase of special vehicles and machinery was financed from the state budget. And when it was, it was purchased in small quantities. There are about 1,500 special vehicles on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Transport, and most of them do not work,” he wrote, adding that the purchase of the vehicles would not be limited to this, and, if the need arose, Kyrgyzstan had the opportunity to buy more machinery.

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan, the country purchased 32 units of road equipment for $2.3 million in 2022.

The ministry added, that prior to this, 355 units of special machinery were purchased with the support of the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) in 2015. The same grant-based project made it possible to open six auto repair shops in Kyrgyzstan in 2018. And a loan was issued for the purchase of 46 units of machinery in 2019.
