BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 30. China became the main country from which Kyrgyzstan imported goods from January through June 2023, Trend report.
The data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the primary sources of Kyrgyzstan’s imports from countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) were China, contributing 40.7 percent of the total import value, followed by Türkiye (4.4 percent), South Korea (4.3 percent), the US (3.7 percent), and Germany (3.5 percent).
Among the CIS countries, Russia was the largest contributor to Kyrgyzstan's imports, accounting for 17.3 percent of the total import value. This was followed by Kazakhstan (7.2 percent) and Uzbekistan (3 percent).
The total value of Kyrgyzstan’s imports amounted to $5.398 billion from January through June 2023, up by 30.3 percent year-on-year. This growth was primarily driven by a 1.6-times increase in imports from non-CIS countries.
Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover reached $6.705 billion in the first half of 2023, growing 31.1 percent year-on-year. Exports accounted for 19.5 percent of the total trade volume, while imports made up the remaining 80.5 percent.
