BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 7. Kyrgyzstan imported 16,275 passenger cars from the US from January through October 2023, Trend reports.
Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that this figure rose by 4.1 times compared to the same period in 2022 (3,922 passenger cars). The value of these imports reached $173.802 million, marking a fourfold increase year-on-year ($43.302 million from January through October 2022).
During the January through October 2023 period, the largest number of passenger cars imported to Kyrgyzstan was from China — 44,720 cars valued at $688.718 million. South Korea secured the second position with 42,033 cars amounting to $352.884 million, while the US held the third place in terms of imported cars.
The significant number of cars was also imported by Kyrgyzstan from Russia (12,068 cars for $117 million), and Japan (9,923 cars for $169 million).
In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 143,829 passenger cars, amounting to more than $1.972 billion from January through October 2023. The import volume increased by 4.9 times compared to the same period in 2022, while the value rose by 5.7 times year-on-year.
Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover reached $12.297 billion from January through October 2023, which is a 24.9-percent increase compared to $9.845 billion in the same period of 2022.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan totaled $2.443 billion during the 10 months, marking a 29.6-percent increase compared to $1.885 billion recorded from January through October 2022. Imports into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $9.854 billion during this period, up by 23.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($7.959 billion).
