Kyrgyzstan ramps up imports of oil products from Belgium

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 24. Kyrgyzstan imported 2,453 tons of oil products from Belgium, worth $8.846 million in 2023, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee shows that the volume increased by 2.5 times compared to 978,800 tons in 2022, and the value rose by 2.4 times from $3.613 million in 2022.

Throughout the year, the majority of oil products imported by Kyrgyzstan came from Russia, amounting to 504,573 tons valued at $370.453 million. Kazakhstan followed in second place with 80,341 tons imported, worth $38.512 million, while Uzbekistan held the third position with 9,667 tons imported, worth $6.341 million.

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 612,007 tons of oil products in 2023, which is a 9-percent decrease from 2022 when 671,733 tons were imported. The overall value of imports amounted to $456.864 million, declining by 13 percent compared to 2022's $525.276 million.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
