Kyrgyzstan Materials 12 April 2007 18:08 (UTC +04:00)

( 24.kg ) - "The parliament is not going to be mediator in current situation. I already said that we (parliament deputies) do not impose to the society such role, but if both sides put away ultimatums, then the parliament is ready to work out and propose compromise decisions," Parliament Speaker Marat Sultanov told.

He also said that he sees nothing dangerous in current situation.

"Situation is democratic, one part of population expresses its attitude to events in Kyrgyzstan. President already made certain compromise. But when one says let us negotiate and there is only one topic: about your capitulation. Who will agree for such negotiations?" he said.

He concluded: "Excuse me, but if both side resist, then they should solve problems themselves."

In conclusion, he answered question of News Agency "24.kg" about who will be the leader of the country, in case president voluntarily resigns.

"According to legislation, Parliament Speaker will be performing president's role," he said.
