The Iran Studies Center of Tajikistan University was inaugurated in a special ceremony attended by Iranian envoy to the Central Asian country on Saturday, Fars News Agency reported.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Iran's Ambassador to Dushanbe Ali Asqar She'rdoust said the center would boost the knowledge of the university students about Iran's culture, history, language and the country's recent achievements.
"Iran and Tajikistan enjoy common culture and language, meantime we should introduce the two countries' culture, civilization and contemporary scientific achievement to the young generation," She'rdoust added.
Reminding that 1,300 Iranian students are currently studying in Tajikistan universities, the ambassador stressed, "We are ready to increase the number in line with the expansion of relations."
Iran's embassy has already opened studies centers in several Tajik universities such as Agricultural University, Melli University, Trade University, Amouzgari University, Foreign Language University and Slaviani University.
Also during the ceremony, Chancellor of the Medical University Obeidullah Qorbanov, viewed the center as an important step in introducing the Islamic Republic of Iran to the people of Tajikistan.
He reminded that 20 Iranian students are studying in Tajikistan Medical (Tebbi) University, and stressed his country's readiness to provide Iranian students with more facilities to study in Tajikistan.
