Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, June 27
By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:
In the letter to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, US President Donald Trump stressed the desire to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries, Trend reports referring to a message published in Turkmen media.
The letter is timed to the beginning of the activity of new US ambassador Matthew S. Klimow in Turkmenistan.
“He is well aware of the mutual interests of our two countries and shares my sincere desire to preserve and strengthen the long-term friendly relations between our countries,” President Trump said.
Earlier it was reported that Washington will render assistance to the diversification of gas export markets from Turkmenistan, which ranks fourth in the world in terms of its gas reserves.
While speaking in the Senate recently, Klimow stressed that "he will make every effort to promote the diversification of the gas export markets of Turkmenistan through the Caspian Sea, as well as to South Asia".
The White House supports regional gas pipeline projects in which Turkmenistan has been involved, such as TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) and Trans-Caspian gas pipeline through Azerbaijan and Turkey to Europe.
