TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 2. Uzbekistan and Russia have held talks on a roadmap designed to foster practical partnerships between their regions, Trend reports.
The talks took place during a meeting between Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and a Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The Russian delegation included Ministers Aleksei Chekunkov and Sergei Kravtsov.
During the meeting, both sides focused on crucial topics concerning the continued expansion of multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and Russia, in line with previous high-level agreements.
They emphasized the growth of educational and humanitarian exchanges, including the activities and establishment of new branches of leading Russian universities in Uzbekistan, as well as the training of highly qualified teaching staff.
Additionally, discussions included a shared interest in boosting tourism and organizing joint cultural and sporting events.
To note, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with Russia reached $8.6 billion from January through September 2024. This indicates a 22.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year ($7 billion from January through September 2023).
