Representative of the British Foreign Ministry called the suit on British embassy worker in Iran as 'disappointing'.
On Aug.8 the Court accused Hossein Rassam, 44, an employee of the Britain embassy in Tehran, of protests against the country's disputed elections, cooperation with foreign forces and espionage.Rassam admitted accusations the court laid on him saying that he did it under the instructions of the embassy officials.
In response to the suit on Rassam, the British Foreign Ministry made a statement. The arrest of foreign diplomats in Iran hurts the image of the Iranian Justice Ministry, the statement said. The UK expressed his surprise on the arrest of Rassam and condemned Iran. Iran has granted immunity of British diplomats repeatedly. However, Tehran did not keep its promise, the British official told trend News via e-mail on condition of anonymity.
Iran did not presented warranty to London in connection immunity of Britain embassy worker, Hosein Rassam, spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hassan Gashgavi, said.
The European Union condemned Iran for bringing a suit on Rassam, who is accused of causing disorders and irregularities in Iran. However, this condemnation do not have any legal right, Gashgavi said in a news conference, Mehr news agency said on Aug.10.
Iran violated Rassam's elementary human rights at the prison and the court did not follow the law during the legal proceedings, the official said.
The British embassy in Iran appealed to Tehran to clarify the incident on Rassam. The UK will take measures against the Iranian court, which broke the international law, the same source said, avoiding further details.
