Iranian MPs and president argue over subsidy project

"If the project on subsidies is attached to the public budget, the government will not implement it," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, while speaking at parliament. Meanwhile, MPs protested the president's speech, the Mehr news agency reported.

Ahmadinejad criticized the removal of a paragraph stipulating the creation of a foundation from the project on subsidies.

"The government may realize this project, only when gaining more authority," he said. "The parliament has done a great deal. However, if the project is approved in the framework of the budget, it will be impossible to implement it."

The MPs strongly objected to Ahmadinejad's speech.
