Islamic Revolution supports oppressed people: Larijani
Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that the strategy of the Islamic Revolution is based on fighting against colonialism and the global arrogance (imperialist powers) and supporting oppressed people, The Tehran Times reported.
At a meeting in Tehran on Monday with Djiboutian Parliament Speaker Idriss Arnaoud Ali, Larijani called the outlook for multilateral cooperation between Iran and African countries bright and heartwarming.
He said that Iran supports African countries for the cause of humanitarianism and in order to assist in the efforts to eliminate the remnants of oppression and discrimination left over from the colonialist era and to help in the development of African countries.
Larijani expressed satisfaction over the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Djibouti, adding that fortunately, the two countries have enhanced their economic cooperation.
The potential of Iran and Djibouti and the opportunities that arise should be used to increase bilateral economic interactions, he stated.
The Iranian parliament speaker also emphasized the importance of Iran-Djibouti parliamentary cooperation.
The Djiboutian parliament speaker said that increasing friendly cooperation with Iran is a very important priority for his country.
He thanked Iran for its assistance to Djibouti and added that Iran's effort to expand ties with African countries is playing an important role in helping them become developed.
He also called for the expansion of Iran-Djibouti parliamentary cooperation and said Djibouti is interested in sharing the Iranian parliament's experiences in various areas.
