Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has praised North Korea's "resistance to US pressures," calling for stronger Tehran-Pyongyang relations.

Iran's FM Ali Akbar Salehi made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with North Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister Pak Kil Yon in Tehran, Press TV reported with reference to IRNA.

"Today, the US allies [in the region] are collapsing and the counties are trying to keep their distance from the United States," Salehi said as popular revolutions continue to sweep US-backed autocratic regimes across the Middle East and North Africa.

Pak, for his part, called for expansion of bilateral ties between North Korea and Iran, especially in the field of economic cooperation.
