Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has called on the United Nations to take firm and immediate measures to halt Manama regime's crackdown on Bahraini people, Press TV reported.
In a Friday letter, Salehi urged UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the president of the UN Security Council (UNSC) to take "serious and immediate action" to stop the killing of people in Bahrain.
The Iranian foreign minister made a reference to the "unimaginable" methods of clampdown on the Bahrainis, including raiding homes, kidnapping individuals, demolishing mosques, dismissal of employees and workers and disrupting routine lives of the population.
Shiah opposition has been staging multi-thousand protest actions in Bahrain since February demanding for the expansion of rights and influence upon a country ruled by the minority Sunni Muslims. Dozens were killed, and hundreds were injured in clashes with police.
More than 1,000 military arrived in Bahrain from Saudi Arabia on March 14 as part of the mission of the Cooperation Council of the Gulf States under the pretence of the need of provision of public order. Shiah oppositionists described the military aid as "occupation".
