Iran looks to increase sales of cement at mercantile exchange

TEHRAN, Iran, Sept. 6

Trend:

A total of 10,500 cement consumers have registered to purchase this product at the Iran Mercantile Exchange, said director general of mining industries in the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade Seifollah Amiri, Trend reports via IRNA.

Amiri has indicated that Iran's cement production was 4.5 million tons from July 23 to August 22.

He noted that 62 cement producer units also enrolled to offer their products at the mercantile exchange system, while 52 cement production units are currently offering cement at the mercantile exchange.

A total of 1.6 million shares have been traded at Iran Mercantile Exchange on Sunday and following new policies, prices have declined in Iran's cement market.

"It is necessary to introduce online shops for small cement purchases that could lead to competition and reduce cement price," he explained.

The Ministry of Industry Mine and Trade has announced on August 31 that any supply and purchase of cement outside mercantile exchange is prohibited and all cement producer units who have not been admitted in the mercantile exchange, should start offering their goods in two weeks' time.
