By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Iran's South Pars gas field produced 111 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the first 11 month of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20, 2016-Feb. 20), Masoud Hassani, Managing Director of South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC), said.

The processed gas is injected to the national gas trunk line after processing at the refinery, Hassani said, the oil ministry's official SHANA news agency reported Feb. 26.

Iran extracted 132 billion cubic meters of the gas from the field in the 11-month period, he added.

The official added that in the said time span, more than 177.166 million barrels of gas condensate were also produced in the complex.

Over 471,552 tons of sulphur, 2.087 million tons of ethane and 2.426 million tons of LPG were also produced in South Pars Gas Complex in the period, Hassani added.

Iran has increased gas production from South Pars to above 500 mcm/d and it would reach 520-530 mcm/d by the end of current fiscal year (March 21).

The field with 14 trillion cubic meters of reserves on the Iranian side is jointly owned with Qatar.

Iran divided its side of the field to 24 phases and its final output capacity is expected to be above 800 mcm/d after launching all phases.

Qatar has produced above 2.4 trillion cubic meters of cumulative gas from the field, while Iran’s output has reached 1 trillion cubic meters until 2016.
