Iran’s provincial fishery output surges

Central Province of Iran seeks to boost its fishery output by 18 percent over the coming fiscal year (starting March 20) after the farmers saw a considerable surge in the current year.

The head of provincial fishery organization, Hassan Akbari, has said that fishers produced about 4,500 tons of various types of fishery in the fiscal 2017/18.

According to the official, the provincial output over the current year increased by 43 percent.

Akbari added that the province seeks to increase the volume of output to 5,500 tons over the coming year.

The country’s fishery exports have witnessed a 37 percent increase during the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

Iran’s overall fishery exports reached 82,451 tons, worth $283 million in the 9-month period.

The head of Iranian fishery organization, Hassan Salehi, earlier said that the country exported worth of $475 million of fishery over the last fiscal year.
