Around 220 agricultural projects have been implemented in Iran’s south-eastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, Director of the Agriculture Organization of Sistan and Baluchestan province Mujtaba Piri said.
Meanwhile, 65 projects cover the improvement of plant production, 13 projects - the improvement of livestock production, 92 projects – water, land and technical issues, 34 projects – nomads’ issues, eight projects - fishing and eight projects - natural and water resources, Piri added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
He added that 148 billion rials (about $3.53 million) have been invested in the projects.
Seventy percent of Sistan and Baluchestan residents are farmers. Although the province has great potential, it has faced challenges like drought for a few years, he said.
Mango, banana, papaya, apricot, olives, citrus fruits and so on are grown in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
