Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex have built and repaired 23 large and small scale vessels in the last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) that reduced import costs by $1.2 million, said the managing director of Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex (ISOICO).
The ISOICO has designed and built Makran port ship as an important project in the field of defense by the cooperation of the navy, said Hamid Rezaian, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"Makran port ship is a project equipped with advanced telecommunication and military system that could float on open waters for two years while six heavy military helicopters could be placed on it and have the duty to support navy fleet in international waters especially in the Indian Ocean, Bab-el-Mandeb strait and the Red Sea," he said.
"The company has designed and built a fishing support vessel and a tourism ship that were delivered to owners, while the group has overhauled a drilling rig. Two onshore and offshore oil platforms in Hendijan Oilfield have been built and installed, the platforms in Hengam gas field are currently being built by the ISOICO," Rezaian added.
The ISOICO signed a $160 million contract to build the first domestic drilling rig in last Iranian year while the company has won the contract for the development of the Forouzan gas field in a tender.
"The company has designed and built a small vessel to clean oil leaks and pollutions in last Iranian year. ISOICO's first overhaul project in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) is to repair Argo crude oil tanker that started on April 10. The following overhaul projects (by the ISOICO) could save up to $1 million costs and use around 500 employees," he stressed.
The company has also expressed readiness to overhaul the MV Iran Shahr-E-Kord container shop that was damaged by terrorist attacks in the Mediterranean.
