Iran's government has approved to provide advances to individuals in agricultural sector that suffered from droughts, Iran's government spokesman Ali Rabiei said, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The government will support the agriculture sector that has faced water shortage because of drought and low rainfall in the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021)," said the official.

"Thus, the government will help to solve the farmers' problems across country by providing advances," he said.

"About $357 million worth of credit would be provided for urgent supply of agriculture water via reconstruction of wells, dredging, irrigation system, pumping stations, reconstruction of general canals, water reserve pools, and water transportation pipes," he said.

"The working group for exemption of interest, fees, fines on delayed loan payments is obligated to introduce farmers that were effected by drought last Iranian year(started March 20,2020) and the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021) to agent banks in order to exempt their fine on delayed loan interest," he said.

"The government would also pay about $714 million worth of advances to agriculture sector that faced losses via agent banks with a 4-percent fee and would guarantee to compensate the damages caused by drought," he added.
