Uzbekistan announces tender for national highway section reconstruction
The Uzbek Republican Road Fund announced a tender to reconstruct the road section "Guzar - Bukhara - Nukus - Beineu" (A-380), the fund said.
The tender was announced to reconstruct a 40-kilometer road section (315 - 355 km) by replacing two-lane asphalt pavement with four-lane cement concrete.
The bids will be accepted until July 5. Its results are planned to be summarized in September. The construction period is 1.5 years. The project will be financed at the expense of the next tranche of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
It was reported that the loan has been issued under the program of multitranche funding of the national highway construction, worth $600 million and approved by the bank in April 2010.
The bank will allocate $ 240 million from ADB's ordinary resources and $360 million from the funds of the Asian Development Fund. The funds of a loan package will be allocated in several tranches during 2010 - 2012 period and spent to reconstruct the sections of the road "Guzar - Bukhara - Nukus - Beineu" (A-380) with a length of 220 km by replacing two-lane asphalt pavement with four-lane cement concrete.
In May 2010 ADB allocated the first tranche worth $115 million to Uzbekistan, the second one worth $240 million in April 2011.
GP Papenburg Baugesellschaft mbH (Germany) signed a contract worth $86 million with the Uzbek Government to reconstruct a 50-km section of the A-380 highway in Uzbekistan in October 2010. The company won the tender announced at the expense of the ADB first tranche.
The term of the contract implementation is late 2012.
The Korean Kukdong Corporation has signed a contract with the government of Uzbekistan for the reconstruction of the Husar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beyneu (A-380) road section, worth $162.5 million in the Bukhara region.
According to ADB, the next tranche will be approved in late May 2012.
It is planned to construct and reconstruct the roads with a total length of 1,500 kilometers within the national highway construction program of the first category worth $ 2.6 billion by 2015. The national highway will stretch from the north-west to south-eastern border of the country and connect major cities of the country.
The cost of the programme is $2.6 billion.
The project will be financed with resources of the Uzbek Government for $1.68 billion and with credit from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a credit-line from China to the SCO member states and from other international financial institutes.
The current total length of roads in Uzbekistan is 146,400 kilometres, 42,500 of which are the commonly used highways including 3,200 kilometres, an international highway and 18,800 kilometres of national importance. There are 20 international transport routes and routes throughout Uzbekistan.

The State Property Committee of Azerbaijan has announced an investment competition on sale of 90.3 percent stake of Baki air conditioner, said in a report published on Saturday in the newspaper Mulkiyyet.

Azerbaijan announces investment competition for sale of shares in 'Baku machine-tool manufacture'
The State Property Committee of Azerbaijan has announced an investment competition for sale of 99.7 percent stake in 'Baku machine-tool manufacture', a report published on Saturday in the Mulkiyyet newspaper, published by the Committee says.
Stake, submitted to the competition consists of a standard package of investment competition (85 percent) and the shares remaining from the discounted sale to the labor collective (14.7 percent).
The competition is open to individuals and legal entities of Azerbaijan and foreign investors. Applicants must submit an investment program with proposals for the restoration of the company.
