Two of the seven presidential candidates will not participate in the voting at the presidential elections in Armenia on February 18. They are Arman Melikyan and Andrias Ghukasyan who was on hunger strike, news.am. reported today.

Two of the seven presidential candidates will not participate in the voting at the presidential elections in Armenia on February 18. They are Arman Melikyan and Andrias Ghukasyan who was on hunger strike, news.am. reported today.

Andrias Ghukasyan told the media on Feb. 16 that he will not vote because he is physically unable to go to the polling station. He said that after the elections, he and his supporters will make a protest.

Arman Melikyan also said that he will not vote either. He justified his decision by saying that his attitude to the legitimacy of the elections has not been changed.

Presidential candidate Aram Harutyunyan will not vote either. Later he withdrew his candidacy. On this day, he will celebrate his birthday.

The sixth Armenian presidential election will be held Feb.18 from 08:00 to 20:00 local time.The head of state is elected for five years.

Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Grant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andrias Ghukasyan and Vardan Setrakyan.
