Georgia has identified its first case of the H1N1 flu virus in one of its citizen who had recently arrived in back in the country from Britain, a minister in the former Soviet state said on Saturday, Reuters reported.
"We identified the virus at the very early stage and there is no threat to this person's life," Alexander Kvitashvili, Labour and Social Protection minister, told Reuters by telephone.
"He is isolated now. We have all vaccines and medicines to treat him ... There is no reason to believe that the virus may spread further in Georgia."
The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday the H1N1 flu pandemic was the fastest-moving pandemic ever and it was now pointless to count every case.
The United Nations agency, which declared an influenza pandemic on June 11, revised its requirements so national health authorities need only report clusters of severe cases or deaths caused by the new virus or unusual clinical patterns.
