Tbilisi hosts European Chess Championship

Tbilisi will host the European Individual Women's Chess Championship 2011 on May 6-19. Some 134 strongest chess players from 26 countries will participate in the competition. The prize money will be in the amount of 110,000 EUR (88,000 EUR for the players and 22,000 EUR for the ECU).

Tbilisi will host the European Individual Women's Chess Championship 2011 on May 6-19. Some 134 strongest chess players from 26 countries will participate in the competition. The prize money will be in the amount of 110,000 EUR (88,000 EUR for the players and 22,000 EUR for the ECU).

The competition will use the Swiss system of 11 rounds . The chief judge will be the repeated Olympic champion Nana Alexandria .

An organization committee headed by Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava was created to conduct an international tournament at the highest level .
