The Tbilisi City Court has released former Deputy Interior Minister, acting vice-mayor of Tbilisi Shota Khizanishvili on bail.

The decision was made by the court at the request of 21 minority members of the Georgian Parliament.

It should be noted that to date, Khizanishvili was in pre-trial detention.

On Wednesday, the Georgian Prosecutor's Office filed new charges in regards to former Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Shota Khizanishvili related to the illegal intervention in the activities of the Georgian Dream political coalition in the election period and the artificial creation of evidence.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Khizanishvili is charged under articles 166 (interference with activities of political organizations), 373 (illegal wiretaping), 333 (abuse of power) and 182 (embezzlement) of the Georgian Criminal Code.

The Prosecutor's Office demanded upholding Khizanishvaili's imprisonment, but the court did not grant this request.
