In January-July 2013 Georgia imported 742,470 tons of natural gas from Azerbaijan which amounted to $127.83 million, the GruzStat (Georgian National Statistical Service) reported.
Azerbaijan is the main supplier of this kind of fuel to the country with a specific weight of 80.86 per cent of Georgia's total volume of imports in this category.
According to the report, in total, Georgia imported $158.09 million worth of natural gas in January-July 2013.
In an annual calculation, the volume of natural gas imported by Georgia from Azerbaijan increased by 21.08 per cent (quantitatively - by 8.94 per cent or 60,960 tons). For comparison: Georgia imported 681,510 tons of hydrocarbons from Azerbaijan in January-July 2012 which amounted to $105.57 million.
The specific weight of natural gas and other gases amounted to 40.13 per cent in the volume of imports from Azerbaijan during the reported period.
Georgia imported $318.56 million worth of products from Azerbaijan in January-July 2013. In total, Georgia imported $4.19 billion worth of products from Azerbaijan in January-July 2013, that is 5.1 per cent less than the same period of 2012.
