Georgia shares data on oil product imports

Georgia’s imports of gasoline and diesel fuel from January through November 2021 amounted to 1.04 million tons, which is an increase of 3.7 percent, compared to 1 million tons over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the Union of Petroleum Products Importers of Georgia.

The same figure also increased by 5 percent, compared to 992,600 tons over first 11 months of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

According to the Union, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the aviation gasoline imports suffered the most in 2020, although, these imports to Georgia over the reporting period of 2021 amounted to 85,800 tons, which is an increase of 67.6 percent, compared to the same period of 2020 (51,200 tons).

However, the same figure decreased by 6.9 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2019 (92,200 tons).

The COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the consumption of other petroleum products and, consequently, on their imports, the Union said.

In particular, Georgia’s imports of petroleum bitumen from January through November 2021 amounted to 107,000 tons, which is a decrease of 10.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2020 (119,600 tons).

Georgia’s imports of lubricants over first 11 months of 2021 remained stable and amounted to 17,120 tons, the report noted.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s imports of liquefied petroleum gas from January through November 2021 amounted to 34,600 tons, which is a decrease of 17.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2020 (41,900 tons).

According to the Union, 92.2 percent of the liquefied petroleum gas imports (31,900 tons) over first 11 months of 2021 accounted for Russia.
