Turkey will start exploration of oil and gas in the Mediterranean Sea next week, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said in an interview with the country’s 24 TV channel.
He said that the Turkish vessel for geological exploration will begin continuous 3D scanning of the seabed in the Mediterranean Sea.
Another reconnaissance vessel will be involved in the exploration of oil and gas in the Black Sea, he added.
The minister noted that drilling of one or two reconnaissance wells per year is planned in both seas.
He added that about ten gas and oil pipelines are laid across the territory of Turkey, and this provides benefit to both Turkey and its partners.
