Jordan condemns violations by Israeli settlers in West Bank

The Jordanian government on Saturday expressed its strong condemnation of Israeli settlers' acts in burning mosques and demolishing houses in the West Bank, the state-run Petra news reported.

"Such acts are completely rejected and condemned. These actions represent a stark violation of Israel's legal obligations as an occupation force in the West Bank," Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and Government Spokesperson Abdullah Abu Rumman said Saturday.

These acts, the minister said, indicate that Israel's policies are a real threat to international efforts to make peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis, Xinhua reported.

Jordan calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibility towards these Israeli practices and to pressure Israel to stop these violations, the minister said, adding that these practices worsen the situation in the region.
