Algeria's state news agency says security forces have shot dead seven militants in a forest near the capital Algiers, Today's Zaman reported.
The report said that the militants were killed during a late night battle Monday in the Beni Khelifa woods in Boumerdes district 30 miles (45 kilometers) east of the capital.
Earlier Monday, four other militants were killed by security forces in the same forest following villagers' reports of armed men in the area.
The group is believed to have been responsible for a roadside bomb attack on a nearby highway on Sunday that killed four civilians.
