Syrian military using elite commandos in Aleppo

The Syrian military was using elite army commandos in its wide-scale offensive to regain control of Aleppo from rebel forces, an opposition activist told dpa on Saturday.

The Aleppo-based activist, who identified himself as Bassam al-Halabi, said in addition to using "commandos of the Syrian Army" government troops were being backed by tanks, fighter jets and helicopters.
