A 60-storey skyscraper under construction near the world's tallest tower Burj Khalifa was engulfed in a blaze Sunday, leaving four people injured and causing traffic jams Dubai, Xinhua reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been detected. Four people were locked up in higher floors, but fire brigades could liberate them in a rescue operation, local media reported.

The tower complex under construction consists of three towers with 60 levels each.

It was scheduled to be completed by April 2018. Black smoke painted the sky black in the heart of Dubai and triggered massive traffic jams around the Dubai Business Bay on Sunday morning.

Local authorities tweeted about several traffic accidents which occurred due to the traffic congestions.

The site of the incident is next to the world's biggest shopping center Dubai Mall and the 63-storey The Address Downtown Dubai tower.
