( Gulfnews ) A Saudi prisoner who apparently killed himself at Guantanamo had warned that some detainees were desperate enough to commit suicide and possibly kill guards as well, according to documents obtained by the Associated Press.

Abdul Rahman Maaath Thafir Al Ameri told interrogators in an April 2002 meeting some detainees felt they had "nothing to lose" and guards should take extra precautions, according to a report provided to Guantanamo panels tasked with deciding whether he was eligible for release.

The report gave no indication Al Ameri would himself commit suicide five years after the interrogation session.

"The detainee was aware that some detainees felt that they would rather die than live the way they were living, and some of the detainees would not care about taking someone else with them when they die," said the report, which was obtained by AP this month under the Freedom of Information Act.
