(dpa) - Melbourne's Serbian community Thursday flagged another night of protests against Australia's decision to recognize Kosovo as an independent country.

Protesters were urged to gather in the city centre Friday night for what Father Milton Milutinovic of the Serbian Orthodox Church described as a "dignified and civilized" gathering.

He said the protest, the second this week, would highlight "the unlawful and illegitimate recognition of Kosovo as an independent state" by Australia and other countries.

On Monday flares were thrown and a bottle was hurled through the window of a police car during a rowdy protest outside the United States consulate in Melbourne.
