( dpa )- Leonardo da Vinci's fascination with machines is the subject of an exhibition that opened at the Museum of Industry in the east German city of Saxony on Sunday.
More than 40 wooden models of his inventions, including Archimedes screws, lifting devices, pulleys and flywheels are on display until June 15.
Visitors can touch many of the exhibits and try them out for themselves.
In addition to designing buildings and machinery, Leonardo da Vinci also painted and produced studies on subjects from flying machines to weapons.
On his death in 1519, the Italian artist and scientist left behind more than 6,000 manuscripts containing details of his life's work.
