A state news agency says Chinese President Hu Jintao has flown to earthquake-hit Sichuan Province Friday to console victims and inspect rescue work, the AP reported.
Xinhua News Agency said Hu would also meet some of the 130,000 soldiers involved in the rescue work. The confirmed death toll from Monday's earthquake has risen to 19,509, but the government says that was expected to more than double.
