Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 August /Тrend News corr. J.Babayeva/ Georgian administration's aspiration to join NATO was not the cause for the recent developments, Russia's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasili Istratov said at a press conference on 13 August.
"Russia's actions were not connected with the NATO issues, but with country's peacekeepers and citizens. Russia would scarcely have acted in other way, had Russia not intended to join NATO. Georgia's joining NATO is irrelevant in this case," Ambassador said.
According to Istratov, Russia always says that every country determines for itself the blocs and unions to join.
