A Czech court Friday sentenced a 26-year-old
former Prague city policeman to 10 years in prison for murdering a 44-year-old US citizen, court spokesman Petr Kulawiak said, dpa
reported.
Milan Pavlis was convicted of stabbing to death Michael Murray, a Pentagon
contractor reportedly on a private visit to Prague, in a brawl in the early
hours on January 30.
His friends later told Czech media that Murray had been sleeping in his car
during the trip.
Pavlis, who was drunk and off-duty at the time, has insisted that he stabbed Murray in self-defence. He can appeal the verdict.
