A Canadian soldier was killed in southern Afghanistan Sunday after one of two improvised explosive devices he was trying to defuse exploded, military officials said, according to Xinua.
The explosion occurred just after noon in the Panjwaii district, which is about 20 kilometers southwest of Kandahar city, Canadian media reported from Afghanistan.
An Afghan police officer was also killed, and an Afghan interpreter was wounded.
