Another Canadian soldier has been killed in southern Afghanistan, making July the deadliest month for US-led troops in the war-ravaged country, Press TV reported.

The soldier was killed during a counterinsurgency operation in the Panjwaii district in the volatile Kandahar province on Thursday, CTV reported.

So far this month at least 47 deaths have been reported among foreign forces, five of them Canadian soldiers.

The latest deaths make July the deadliest month for the US and its allies in Afghanistan since the 2001 invasion.

A total of 125 Canadian soldiers have been killed as part of the Afghan mission.

The developments also come as foreign forces stationed in the country are locked in a tough battle with Taliban insurgents in the troubled southern provinces.

The deaths pile further pressure on the governments involved in the invasion.
