British troops should never have been sent to Afghanistan, according to 53 percent of people questioned in an ICM public-opinion poll carried out for the National Army Museum, the London-based Times reported.

Opposition to the military deployment in Iraq was even greater, at 60 percent, the newspaper said, Bloomberg reported.

Support for the Afghan involvement was 25 percent, and 20 percent in the case of Iraq, the Times said.

Two thousand people were questioned in the poll, the newspaper said.
