An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale shook on Tuesday the Nasca province, 480 kilometers south to capital Lima, without reports of victims or material damages to the moment, Xinhua reported.

According to the Peruvian Geophysics Institute (IGP) the epicenter was located 40 km southeast to Nasca with a depth of 40 km.

The earthquake was also felt in nearby cities like Palpa, Acari in Arequipa and Puquio in Ayacucho.

In August 2007 an earthquake measuring 7.9 magnitude shook the Peruvian provinces of Canete, Chincha, Pisco and Ica, between 100 and 320 km south to Lima, with 596 people killed and more than 70, 000 houses destroyed.
