Two separate explosions have rocked Ugandan capital Kampala, killing at least 23 people packed into restaurants and clubs to watch the World Cup football final, an official says, Press TV reported.

One blast took place at an Ethiopian restaurant in the south of the capital and the other hit a rugby sports club in the east of Kampala, AFP quoted Ugandan police chief Major General Kale Kayihura, as saying.

"The information we have indicates 13 people have died here at the Ethiopian Village [restaurant] and many others are injured and more than 10 people are reported to have died at the rugby club," Kayihura told Reuters.

There was no immediate indication of who launched the attack.
