At least eight people were killed early Monday in several explosions at a naval base on Cyprus, radio reports said.
The blasts hit the Mari base near Zygi in the south of the island, according to the Cyprus Broadcasting Corp, DPA reported.
Several people were reportedly injured in the explosions.
The reason for the detonation of several containers of munitions was not yet known.
Witnesses said the base was heavily damaged.
