British police make more arrests on suspicion of terrorism

British police have arrested seven men on suspicion of terrorism in northern and central England, police said Friday, DPA reported.

The arrests, in the Midlands and in Yorkshire, come a day after six people were arrested in London on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

The wave of arrests comes exactly three weeks before the start of the Olympic Games in London. Police have not officially linked the operations to the Games.

A spokesman said the seven men whose arrest was announced Friday were stopped on a motorway last Saturday. Firearms, offensive weapons and other material were found in their vehicle.
